See spinet off. See spinet on. See spinet appreciated.

Seeing a "consoles only" discussion it made me ponder: What is the best vintage non-tonewheel spinet in your opinion? (I didn't want to say non-Hammond partially because hammond made non-tonewheel spinets and also because it would cause a riot). This includes all vacuum tube, transistor, solid state, and OFD organs up to 1975.
First they came for the ABC consoles, then they came for the older consoles. When they finally got to the spinets, they were all gone.

I think the Wurlitzer 44 has got to be in this list. The reeds make some nice sound, and you get authentic chorus and other acoustic oscillation.

    Hey!

I love Spinets!!! They are not appreciated the way they should be.  Im probably the King (or in my case -"QUEEN") of the spinets! Its like everywhere I go, Im usually confronted with a spinet. I learned on a spinet, I have always owned spinets. The church I go to now, and the last one I went to both have spinets. My relatives have spinets. Execpt my parents who have a conn 652, thats like the only console I ever play these days. Otherwise Im on a spinet.   Dont get me wrong , consoles are great!  But I just think people "poo-poo" spinets and dont think of them as serious or professional organs.  "Its not the size of the organ ,but what you can do with it". Some spinets are really bad and not meant for anything other than a toy. Other spinets like the Conn580 and Wurlitzer 4300 and Hammond M100 series can be professionally used and make great music.

    enjoy.
