    Re: Hammond RT-3

I had an RT-3 Hammond .... it was unusal in that it had two volume control pedals one for the great and one for the swell...

Interesting! Was it a custom instrument? AFAIK, the only tonewheel Hammond that came out of the factory with two expression pedals was the Model E, which preceded the original RT (not -3, which was even later) by a decade and WW II. And the E did not have the separate pedal tone generator nor the rocker tabs - its pedal presets were toe studs.

Yes I think it was a special order.... it replaced a pipe organ in the church I bought it from...it was very impressive..... you could set a nice string stop on the choir manual... push the expression pedal for it to over ride the cords in the great manuel or vice versa to use as a nice string acc.

definately a RT3 could have been a one only order...

    Re: Hammond RT-3

Sounds like a Grand 100, rather.

    Have: Allen 301, Crumar T1, Hammond E-311 + RT-2 + T-212, Korg DW-6000, Mason And Hamlin Style 802, Moog Micromoog, Rhodes Mk1 Suitcase 88, WurliTzer console, Yamaha E-70 + DX21 + DX7

Looking for: Yamaha EX-1/EX-2 or CSY-1/CSY-2

Yes, I fully subscribe to the virtues of separate expression pedals on each manual, but I am still trying to figure out how that would have been done on an RT-3. Did the Volume rocker tab function normally, i.e. change the volume on both manuals? Selective Vibrato also function the same?

The big question of course is why anyone would have gone to all that trouble and expense to put a Hammond in a church rather than buying, say, an Allen. I don't suppose we will ever know the answer to that one.

Yes everything worked the vibratos and The rocker tabs... why they chose the Hammond I don't know... I guess the organist or someone with a big stick had a lot to say.
