    Crikey!

What IS it with organists and *funky* apparel? My fiancée remarked that someone looked like they were gonna *turn a trick*.

Notice that she was decorating on a theatre organ.  If it had been a church organ no-one would have noticed.... Stick out tongue

The operative word here is *it* - *it* decorated, albeit badly, the organ bench...........

I didn't like his Mephisto Waltz as much as I liked the Raiders March and Solitude.

That object which decorated the bench of that theater organ looks like a cross of Virgil Fox, Cameron Carpenter and Maxwell Klinger (for those unfamiliar with MASH, I've put a picture of Maxwell Q. Klinger below.

As for Mister Carpenter, while he posesses impressive technical abilities, after the shock and awe of his performances has worn off, he somewhat fails to impress.  Have you seen his Middleschulte, while it is certainly impressive that he is playing the Middleschulte, when held up for comparison with Virgil Fox's playing of it, Carpenter's falls quite flat.

He has great potential, I just wish he were better trained, and had a better ear for registrations.

Holly Golightly plays punk Wurlitzer?  I can barely see through the glare off those fishbelly-white legs.

LOL, sb32, I'm doing okay myself, my sartorial instincts derive from the land and era of Sir Edward Elgar -this guy knew how to dress!  Think of how sloppy Vaughan Williams, Lambert or Britten usually looked, though John Ireland was okay, and Sir Lennox Berkeley had the "gift".  I like to look fashionable at work, and when Cameron is not doing stupid things, he is most elegantly dressed.

Whatever, I wish I possessed Cameron's genius.  His ear for registrations is actually quite fine, he is doing something new.  I have no reason to believe that the great Virgil Fox would have thought otherwise.

    Re: WOW!, I JUST MET...

I cannot deny that I am highly envious of Carpenter's playing - he has, without doubt, a dexterous technique under his fingers. Among the many videos which have been advocated by other members there is much to be admired, although I have my reservations at times (especially when it comes anything by Marcel Dupre).

However, I still can't quite feel comfortable with these costumes he deems fit to festoon himself in. Maybe I'm a bit behind with the times? (despite my fairly youthful age Smile) Whatever one may wear in their free time, I certainly wouldn't dream of entering a religious building in some of the somewhat skimpy outfits which he seems to be fond of.

I certainly do not suggest that this is detrimental to his reputation as a performer - perhaps I am just a staunch traditionalist. Smile

    *Maxwell Klinger* - ROFLMAO!!!

    The original Drag Queen.......

Thankfully Cameron can't be a Virgil Fox - Cameron can only be Cameron - If Cameron decides to copy Virgil Fox then Cameron has lost sight of what it really is to have *one's own voice*!  I can however appreciate Cameron for his organ compositions that have been posted on YouTube and his flair for transcriptions.

    My $0.03 cents worth,
