Well, the picture is from some old Hammond ad or flyer, maybe lifted from some other Ebay item.Embarrassed [:$]

but the real thing might not even be a four-poster! At 50+ years it could be any B. The speakerless speaker cabinet sounds more like a stripped JR20/40. Just guessesConfused [*-)]

First they came for the ABC consoles, then they came for the older consoles. When they finally got to the spinets, they were all gone.

Re: Hammonds of note on Ebay:

    Hey Guys,

As some of you know, I've been looking for an organ for ages! LOL.  At any rate, I found a Hammond C2 with Leslie only 75 miles from me, but it needs repair.  They say it powers up, the Leslie spins, tubes light up, but that's it.  Hard to tell much by that description.  Any recommendations?  My big thing is I'm limited by budget.  It's on ebay, and currently with no bids- starting bid is $299.  How good of a deal it is of course depends on what all it takes to get it back going.  I've done basic mechanical repair on electronics already, so I'm wondering if this is something I can undertake and save some real dough on a Hammond organ, or if this is something only an expert can handle?

Also, I'm assuming it would take a Herculean effort to move this thing.  I don't have Roll-N-Kari dollies, so I'd have to rent them from somewhere- is that possible?

Basically, I'm looking for some suggestions- any ideas you guys have would be greatly appreciated.  I'm can go see it on Wednesday, and see if I can discover any more.  Is there anyone in the area that would be interested/willing to come wtih me?  I know that's a lot to ask, but I"m still pretty new to Hammond organs, and would very much appreciate the opinion/advice of someone more experienced!

Any thoughts you guys have would be appreciated!

    Also, here's a link- please don't bid against me..lol! http://cgi.ebay.com/Hammond-C2-organ-Leslie-Combo-300-in-NJ-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ140072066564QQihZ004QQcategoryZ64429QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Spinets usually get beat up so it's nice to find one in good condition. This one is pristine:

    Hey John,

No, it went too high for me, however, I was just recently given a Black M3 from a friend of mine!  See this thread:

It doesn't have a Leslie, but other than a new power cable and some oil, it's good to go!  I would like to add a Leslie to it, but it would have to be more reasonably priced than 122/145/147s seem to be going for these days.  Plus, the M3 doesn't have a Leslie output, so a kit would have to be added- thus further driving up the cost.

For now, I'm quite happy to have a Hammond!  It's my first organ, and it's a good one!

Re: Hammonds of note on Ebay:

Most impressive!  I am strictly a pipe organ person; but if I were ever going to own a Hammond . . . (I seriously thought about it for a minute!)

As Augustin said, we wonder at what is rare rather than at what is wonderful; but this Hammond may be both.  What an immaculate contraption!!
