    Announcing MyOrgan

For those interested: MyOrgan is capable of loading and faithfully reproducing sample sets accompanied by Hauptwerkâ„¢ version 1 organ definition files. There are already numerous sample sets in this format available both for free and for purchase; links will be provided upon release of the software.

    For more information, visit http://www.kloria.com/software/musical/myorgan/

Scheduled for release at the end of February in a Windows version, with other platforms planned.

There have been no replies, so I don't know the interest level; but MyOrgan is released and is available for demo or purchase:

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

Well, just maybe, because a new version of Hauptwerk came out, there isn't much interest in something that's an improvement over the older version. Seems to me everybody already doing this has been waiting for Hauptwerk v2? Does that make sense? Why don't you focus on supporting additional platforms since that doesn't seem a priority with Hauptwerk. I refuse to run Hauptwerk on XP/2003 whatever the MS flavor of the day is, in case evil genius Bill has programmed his OS to start deliberately flaking out in 3 years. (in new ways besides the ways in will flake out now) It would be perfectly legal for MS to do that and consistent with their vision of "capitalism" and the "market". Let's see a version for Linux.

When I can play the organ on my G5, I'll be happy. Until then, nothing is acceptable for me. ;-)

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

I heard that Apple is going to dump OS X and go to MS Windows. Any truth to that rumor? I can't see it myself, but I'd never buy a product from that spoiled Steve Jobs. I'm going to switch to Linux anyway--it's open source. I'll use Ghost or some such to allow me to continue to use Hauptwerk with Windows.

Thanks for your comments. Although Hauptwerk 2 is available, the difference in price or hardware requirements might make it attractive.

MyOrgan was written with wxWidgets and RtAudio to be cross-platform from the start. (In theory, it should compile on Linux or Mac with not too much effort.) I plan to offer at least Linux (and probably Mac, once I find one at a garage sale) versions once the feature set becomes more finalized.

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

Who ever started a rumor like that [about Mac OS] didn't do their homework. Currently in the works is a new addition to the X family.

Apple is just too darn proud of their OS to give it up, and they have made incredible amounts of money from their products with no need to downgrade to the windows platform.

    I'll admit, I have to give some credit to windows... I could tie up all my boredom by trying to get it to work. {{{LOL}}}

I guess If I wanted to, I could just install XP on my mac and try out Hauptwerk for myself... But that sounds like washing my hands with dirty water.

I don't think Bill Gates would ever let Apple switch over to Windows as then Microsoft would have nothing to try to copy.

    Orgrinder010,

The idea came from John Dvorak.

Back to MyOrgan... Could the program run on Virtual PC? I have used that before and It seemed to work just fine for other apps. I might consider this for the future.

It might work? I don't have anything to test on. (If I did, there'd be native Mac OS X version available.) I hope to go garage saleing for one soon.

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

Some users expressed interest in a Mac version. Which OS X are you using? I would probably target 10.4, although I could also release a one-time version supporting 10.2 and higher.

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

I am using 10.4, however with the release of Boot Camp, users can natively run Windows OS on intel Macs.

This is really cool, as a bunch of Windows fans now have a machine that gives them all the options of both worlds. Some have reported that certain Macs running windows greatly out-perform some of the high-end windows boxes that are rated at a whole GHz faster processor.

You might not even need to port it to 10.4, as the rumor for 10.5 is to run all X86 coded applications natively in the Mac OS itself (without the need to install windows?). This will totally eliminate the old "Nobody makes Mac software" spiel. We shall see.

    Re: Announcing MyOrgan

I've downloaded MyOrgan and some free sample sets. Well for someone on a tight budget, it sounds fabioulous. Where can we get some more sample sets to have a nice big organ?
